I pull up to a double left turn lane stop light. The person in front of me is not slowing down as much as expected. (gender will remain anonymous) I'm kinda in wonder mode. A gorgeous 944t two cars in front in my lane and a gorgeous 1964 Corvair next to me. (I had talked to the Corvair owner at a previous, long light). Nice car. Anyway said kid hauler proceeded to impact the rear of the 944t. The driver of the Porsche got out and immediately grasped his head so I knew it was not good. Why do bad things happen to good people?

This is one of my biggest fears on the road. Buying up a lovely classic, putting work into it, and having it destroyed by someone else's carelessness. Heck, I'd be mad if this happened to any of my cars.

Minivan, enough said. I think people become mentally damaged as soon as they get in the drivers seat of one regardless if they have kids or not.

That sucks. At least, the car in the back usually gets the worst of that, so the car in front might have only been slightly damaged.

Indeed. Me too. I just am amazed at the number of accidents that occur needlessly.

Yeah, could not see real clear as I went by, but even small damage on a car like that is expensive.

I drove my mom's minivan for a while and I'd say don't knock it til you try it. Minivans are the most fun vehicles in a certain way.

Exactly why I don't have a motorcycle. I'm totally ok with hurting myself if I do something stupid but to be paralyzed or dead or worse, a quadriplegic just because someone else is in idiot. No thanks.

What way is that? I've driven a minivan. It's one step above taking the bus.

Well it obviously isn't for driving dynamics but..in just two easy steps you can make that minivan epic.
1. Take middle and/or third row seats out.
2. Insert friends.
Even the shortest of trips feels like a spring break party.

If the impact to the 944 deformed the chassis rails, it might be a write-off, depending on the mileage and shape of the car. A base car would be totaled for sure (BTW..the photo you posted is a base, not a turbo, if you didn't know).

I think we're all "guys like me." :P

Problem is when you look for images of a "944T" you get all kinds of them. I grabbed that one cause it was similar color and a good image.

This person should be shot for a crime like this. That is the only punishment this kind of idiot. lol

As a preface, I daily a Corvette.
That said, driving a minivan (in my case, a 2005 Dodge Caravan with the 3.8L V6) is like riding a magnificent chariot. That car loves to roll better than any other car I've ever driven or ridden in. It's smooth to take off, smooth to stop, doesn't lose momentum when you get off the gas, and it just rolls around corners. And there I sit, perched high on the mighty driver's pedestal looking down at all the plebeians in their Toyota Camrys and Hyundai Elantras, confident that my chariot is faster, more intimidating, and more comfortable.

on a bike you have the advantage of being able to squeeze in between traffic to avoid EXACTLY this.
as long as you keep ur head on a swivel and check ur mirrors, bikes arent all that more dangerous. less distractions, more connected. i am willing to bet my bike that 99% of bike accidents could be avoided by the biker.
